  • Awesome car - 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Picked up my car about five days back. I researched and was skeptical of gas consumption claims. Some consumers had rated it rather bad. However, I wanted and needed a low gas consumption vehicle. I looked at and test drove many hybrids including Lexus, VW, Lincoln, Toyota. This appealed to me after several test drives. I have not regretted a moment since buying it. It is very comfortable. Quality of build is excellent and consumption is more than what Ford promised. I am averaging around 45mpg on a very long daily commute of 110 miles round trip on a rather flat highway. In city and shorter trips, I have achieved over 55mpg.

I live in the San Francisco bay area and have a round trip commute of 80 miles. I have put 20,000 miles on the car. I bought it used with 20,000 already on it and have not had one problem. Averaging 45 mpg. I use mid grade gasoline and I pay $30 to fill up (San Francisco bay area) couldnt be much happier. At 40,000 miles the car runs the same as the day I bought it.Update: my car is over 60,000 now and still running great. Averaging 46mpg but this could be due to the tires wearing low providing less rolling resistance.

  • Only one problem.... - 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid

I purchased my 2014 model in March of 2014 and have now surpassed 20,000. I live in PA with many hills and valleys, hot, humid summers, and cold winters. Most of my mileage is local, although I do take many trips of 50 miles or more including a trip to Colorado, Georgia, and Canada. That said, the only times I got less then 50 mpg was the first two tanks of gas (47 and 49) and during the winter months because most of my driving was local and the car would take time to warm up. My overall mileage since owning the vehicle is better then 53 mpg and this last tank gave me 60 for the first time. The secret is in how you drive it. My car is no different then the ones claiming lower mileage Only ONE problem -- A driver cannot see the front of the vehicle -- this makes it very difficult to judge the distance of those pesky little parking stops in parking lots... I normally drive right up over them -- not to mention an awkward placed median strip on a side road in WV. I turned and never saw the median strip until I heard it going under my car -- needless to say, this removed the piece under the bumper... I realize the design of the car is to give it the best mileage but I also believe safety should be the first concern. This is dangerous... UPDATE! It is January 2018 and I have made the grave mistake of trading the Fusion for a Malibu Hybrid... I have only owned the Malibu for 8 months but it does not come close to the Fusion overall... With the exception of storage and maybe comfort the Malibu falls way short of the overall performance of the Fusion. Especially the mileage which averages about 14 mpg less...

  • MPG NOT GREAT, EVERYTHING ELSE IS GREAT - 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Currently getting about 38 mpg with a hybrid, but I drive fairly hard.

We cant understand what the fuss is about the navigation and touch system. It did take a while to find all the many features, but now it is easy to use and the navigation system is very accurate. The four quadrants make it easy to shift from one screen to another. Just a little time with the manual and you should be all set. This is the first American car we have had and we love it. We are getting excellent mileage...better than the newly corrected MPG. We have about 3300 miles on her.

  • Best car ever! - 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid

I bought this car for the looks (tectonic silver), and gas mileage (2015 fusion energi titanium) which stated 38 mpg gasoline only, combined city/highway and 88 mpg electricity + gasoline, combined city/highway. It has not disappointed. I drive aprox. 30-35 miles per day so I am using mostly electric. My average for 21 months is about 70 mpg. It would be higher but where I lose out is taking long distance trips. Then I average 35-40 mpg. Some weeks I get 99.9 mpg because it does not register any higher. I wish it had more trunk space. I wish Suri would hear me (is it my voice?) better. It has a very low pan under the front of the car which I have knocked off. When I took it in they said it had not been properly attached. It is lower than any other car I have owned and hits speed bumps if I am not careful. Navigation is good......once I got on to it. I ignore all the "techie" stuff but appreciate the safety features. I said I bought it for the looks......to me it is beautiful in its design and the color is still my favorite.

I loved my fusion. I only put Okay for "getting in or out" because I am taller but I eventually got used to it. This was the best car Ive driven. Ive driven chevys and Ive gotta say, the seats in Chevys are awful and overall dont like them. Recently my brother and I were in an accident in my fusion the windshield had a gaping hole in front of the drivers seat and the roof had a pretty sizeable dent, the dash had tears from the glass and deer, and the quarter panel had damage along with the little triangle window was busted out. It was totaled due to the cost of repairs to the roof, dash, and quarter panel. The car being totaled was in no way anyones fault it was dark and the deer came out from behind a car. I am so glad we were in a fusion instead of something less reliable. Im hoping to get another Fusion as soon as possible.

Make sure to view and add your phone to the car. Most newer car systems have a very easy to use system and can stream Pandora. This car, while technically can pair, is only for calls. Not significant in the grand scheme of things, but if you hate wires, it might be something to consider since an aux port is needed to play music of any kind from your phone.

I bought this car 6 weeks ago for an around the country trip. So far Ive put 9000 miles on the car and traveled from Atlanta through the north to Oregon, to South California, and back through the south. 2 weeks after I bought the car, Ford came out with their announcement....sorry...we meant 40 MPG on the road, not 47. That was one of the reasons I had purchased this car. But hey, going to get some money back in September, right? Fuel milage has only once came near the 40 (new number) for the highway. So far, Im averaging around 36 mpg. That has been disappointing. But the other reasons I bought the car was for the comfort and quiet on on that it delivers!

  • Amazing MPG! - 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid
    By -

I have read other reviews on the 2013 and 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid and saw the many complaints about the gas mileage. However, I am happy to report that with my 2014 I am currently averaging 47 mpg. There are 2 things to keep in mind: 1. If you are looking at purchasing this car it is because you want to save money on gas and increase your mpg. To do that, you must learn how to drive the car in all conditions and learn how the hybrid motor works to maximize your mpg. 2. It is not meant to be driven like a regular gas motor car. If you can adapt to this and want to maximize your fuel economy, this is the perfect car for it. The interior is absolutely amazing and comfortable too! Go look and se
